Race & Trauma Trainings

Racial Trauma Module:

1-day Live Virtual or In-Person Training Workshop

Dr. Lau Johnson developed the Racial Trauma Module (RTM) at a Juvenile Justice facility where she used to work as a consultant psychologist for the facility. The RTM is designed to be implemented by a trusted adult in any child-serving system (e.g. schools, juvenile justice facility) as either a stand-alone lesson or integrated as part of Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools (“CBITS”) or Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (“SSET”).

The RTM is a psychoeducational module that is 1-2 hours long, depending on the needs of both the students and capacity of the adult facilitator. It is designed for middle to high school students. Please contact Dr. Lau Johnson directly for more information on the RTM.

TRANSFORM

(Trauma and Racism Addressed by Navigating Systemic Forms of Oppression using Resistance Methods)

2-day Live Virtual or In-Person Training Workshop

Dr. Lau Johnson co-developed TRANSFORM together with Dr. Farzana Saleem, which is an 11-week program that is a holistic and culturally responsive approach to addressing levels of stress that result from traumatic experiences, including racism for middle to high school students.

TRANSFORM has been piloted and evaluated in Washington state schools and community mental health centers, as well as California schools.
